A 'new' year!

You can definitely feel the difference in the air -there is a frisson of crispness that lets us know that summer is getting ready to give way to cooler evenings and crunchy leaves. It's a bittersweet time for me because I love summer in Vancouver. I can never get enough walks along the beaches or dinners in the garden.

On the other hand, I love the ‘back-to-school' feeling of September. I admit to having almost as many pens as books and I always seem to dream up a good reason to buy a new notebook around this time of year. I'm still the 6-year old at heart heading off to school for the first time. I can even remember my first pencil case - a chocolate box covered in shiny pink foil. And oh, the smell of those pink erasers!

One of the things I love to do at the end of the summer is take a time out to reflect on what I've accomplished during the year and to reassess what I want to make true by December. For the ICF chapter, however, we are just heading into a ‘new year' of programming and ramping up our work together as a board.

We elected several new members in April and said thank you to Judy McKenzie, Ann Brindle, and Brian Fraser for all their hard work as board members. Joining us are Cheryl Stafford (Communications Chair), Cherie Williams (Secretary) and Lynne Brisdon (Coach Giving Chair).

As a board we are focusing our work on enhancing chapter membership and increasing the turnout for the monthly meetings. The Prism goal is to increase the number of nominations to help spread the word in the business community about the benefits of coaching. We believe that working on these goals together will result in a better experience for you as members and support your work as a coach.

Savour these last weeks of summer and mark your calendar for September 23rd when we welcome Lori-Anne Demers; just make sure you remember that the meeting is at the Granville Island Hotel. Our October meeting returns to the Arbutus Club with Patrick Ryan as our speaker.

And if you are doing an end of summer review and decide you'd like to get involved in the local coaching community check out the committee opportunities posted on the website. Think about your strengths and what gives you energy -I'm sure there is a role that's a match for your passion and talents. We'd love to have you join us and I know your contribution will make a difference to the community.

Cheers - I'm off to Staples to check out the pens and journals.

    Attention coaches!

We have some exciting news to share with you! Noomii's primary mission is to help match prospective clients with the best possible coach for their specific goals.

From this research, we will develop a customized matching questionnaire for our website which will match clients and coaches with each other based on the best psychological fit. Think of it like "E-Harmony" for coaches and ..
